The rice grown in basa tends to be slightly yellow in color when it first is harvested. After the rice has been harvested, it is dried up and made into breakfast dishes such as kuih and Lumahon. Bulalo rice, which is the most expensive rice varieties, is normally used as a main staple of Filipino cuisine. White rice, which is the cheapest rice varieties, is typically used for stir fries and stir-fry, and is usually eaten during meals.
